It is possible to become more familiar with feeling ticklish by practicing being tickled. This may help to desensitize people to the sensation, ultimately making them feel more ticklish. As we age, our reduction in ticklishness may be due to changes in nerve function and sensitivity. It could also be that children often see tickling as a fun, playful interaction, while adults find it to be more invasive and less enjoyable. Further studies have discovered that when the pain nerves are severed. Scientists found being tickled stimulates your hypothalamus, the area of the brain in charge of your emotional reactions, and your fight and pain responses. The level of exposure to tickling can also play a role. Those who experienced more tickling in their childhood, especially during their formative years, may develop a higher sensitivity to it. Some people do indeed have an extreme tickle response known as Hypergargalesthesia.
