Foot pain during exercise can have many causes, Improper footwear. Shoes that don't offer enough support or cushioning can cause pain, especially during high-impact activities. Overuse. Increasing the intensity or duration of your workouts too quickly can strain your foot muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Foot structure: Conditions like flat feet, high arches, and pronation abnormalities can increase the risk of injury and pain. This can be caused by stepping on something or tripping. Extensor tendonitis: Inflammation of the tendons on the top of your foot can be caused by the wrong shoes, a tight Achilles tendon, or calf muscle issues. Plantar fasciitis: Too much pressure on the band of connective tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot can cause it to break down and tear, leading to pain that may worsen over time. Heavy exercises like squats or leg presses can make this worse.
