For example, diets high in carbohydrates can improve your mood, while diets low in carbohydrates can make you feel tense. A diet rich in protein, moderate in carbohydrates, and low in fat can also improve your mood because it provides iron and omega-3 fatty acids. Research also suggests that the health of your gut microbiome, which is influenced by your diet, can impact your mental health. Eating fiber-rich foods, probiotics, and prebiotics can help support a healthy gut.
