Feet are very sensitive because they have around 8,000 nerve endings that contain receptors for touch, pain, and other sensations. Some of these nerve endings are close to the skin, which can make feet more ticklish than other parts of the body. The brain also uses more of the sensory cortex to process sensory information from the feet than from the entire torso. Neuropathy. Your feet may be overly sensitive due to issues with your nerves. This is a risk factor in patients with Diabetes, which is why it is so important to have regular Podiatry appointments to monitor for nerve damage. Feet are often ticklish because they have a large number of nerve endings, which are more densely packed than other parts of the body. These nerve endings contain receptors for touch and other sensations. This makes feet more sensitive and ticklish than other body parts.
