Who created Facebook?

Mark Zuckerberg attended Harvard University but dropped out after his sophomore year to focus on developing Facebook. The site grew out of two earlier ventures: FaceMash, a website for ranking the attractiveness of other Harvard students, and HarvardConnection.com, an online social networking platform. The Social Network inaccurately portrays Eduardo Saverin's role in creating Facebook and his dismissal from the company; his unavailability and failure to fulfill tasks led to his firing. Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (/ˈzʌkərbɜːrɡ/; born May 14, 1984) is an American businessman. He co-founded the social media service Facebook and its parent company Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook, Inc.), of which he is chairman, chief executive officer and controlling shareholder. Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook in 2004 and took the company public in 2012. In November 2021, Facebook changed its name to Meta Platforms, Inc. The company owns Instagram, its flagship Facebook brand, Threads, WhatsApp and Oculus.
