Yes, it's possible to eat sweets while losing weight if you eat in moderation and mindfully. Eating dessert can help you be more intuitive about your eating, which can lead to a healthier body image and self-esteem. Eating mindfully can also help you feel more satisfied after a meal and eat fewer calories. Allowing yourself to enjoy dessert can make weight loss easier. As a registered dietitian, I think the best dessert for weight loss is a mindful portion of any dessert that you like. Yep, you read that right. You can eat any dessert that you want, and it won't sabotage your weight loss goals. Sugar will not necessarily prevent you from losing weight or fat. You lose weight when you burn more calories than you consume. However, since extra sugar is stored in the body as fat, eating too much sugar can lead to weight gain.
