You are right, and society is wrong. Why would you need to change for people? If you change yourself and still nobody likes you, will you change again? Now, if you change yourself and everybody likes you, will they still like you in 5 years? In 10 years? What if you change yourself and half of the people like you, and the other half don't? How will you live? Two-faced? To answer your question. No, you shouldn't change who you are.
