The story of the first book in the series, Little House in the Big Woods, revolves around the life of the Ingalls family in their small home near Pepin, Wisconsin. Eight of the novels were completed by Wilder, and published by Harper & Brothers in the 1930s and 1940s, during her lifetime. The name "Little House" appears in the first and third novels in the series, while the third is identically titled Little House on the Prairie. Grades 3-5. The elementary grades are the perfect time to introduce the actual writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder. And while some of the books were categorized as memoirs, others were packaged clearly as fiction, and Wilder herself admits that the books were “not the whole truth.” To answer your question.
