The ideal length of an upper body workout depends on your goals and other time commitments, but here are some general guidelines: Strength training: You can see significant improvements in strength with two or three 20- or 30-minute strength training sessions per week. Weightlifting: A session of 45–60 minutes may be enough for weightlifting and bodyweight strength training. Cardiovascular and calisthenic training: These types of training may be better if performed for 30–60 minutes. Research: Some research suggests that working out for more than 45–60 minutes may be counterproductive. Consistency: As long as you stay consistent and move towards your goals, the amount of time you spend exercising is up to you. Rest days: Dedicate each day to a different muscle group to give your body time to recover between weightlifting sessions. Shorten your routine: If you're short on time, you can try chopping your normal lifting routine in half.
